Whatever Happened to the New Age Movement?

The New Age Movement was front page news all during the 1980s. Terms like “channeling” and “harmonic convergence” were discussed and warned against. Followers of the New Age Movement claimed that their Lord Maitreya could appear any day. Christians began to think that Maitreya would be the antichrist.

The New Age Movement is an amalgamation of occultic, eastern mystical, philosophical and pseudo-scientific doctrines. It was, at one time, a powerful popular movement that captured the hearts and minds of millions of Europeans and Americans. Most observers agree that it peaked in the 1980s and has been in decline ever since.

First, let me give you a brief sketch of its doctrines, history and practices. The two central concerns of new agers are 1) personal transformation and 2) societal transformation through the bringing in of a new age of peace and harmony. The doctrines of the New Age Movement reach back to the gnosticism of the second century and the neoplatonic philosophy of ancient times. The New Age Movement also incorporates eastern religious concepts including reincarnation and meditation.

New agers seek personal transformation through Tarot readings, Yoga, eastern religious style meditation, channeling (mediumship) and other occult practices. The New Age Movement was never one central organization. It was, and still is, a movement embraced by many occult groups.

The immediate precursor to the New Age Movement was theosophy. Theosophy (theos = god, sophia = wisdom) was an occultic movement popular in the 1800s and early to mid twentieth century. Occultist Helena Blavatsky (1831-1891) co-founded the Theosophical Society in 1875. She engaged in occultic and paranormal activities. She was, at one point, accused of fraud and faking some of her experiences.

After Blavatsky’s death there was turmoil in the society and she was succeeded by Annie Besant (1847-1933). Besant believed that the Indian teacher, Jiddah Krishnamurti was a coming messianic figure but he defected and renounced aspects of theosophy in 1929.

A generation later, Alice A. Bailey (1880-1949) was the leading figure of theosophy. Bailey founded The Arcane School in 1923 and claimed that a messianic figure, the Master Maitreya, would appear sometime between 1975 and 2000. Bailey used the term “new age” extensively in her writings. Her frequent use of “new age” in her writings has caused some to regard her as a principle foundress of the New Age Movement.

The late twentieth century saw the rise of a man named David Spangler (1945- ) who is a clairvoyant and a prolific author of occult, new age books. He traveled to the occultic Findhorn community in Scotland at age 25 in 1970. He made a major impact there and is considered one of the founders of the New Age Movement. The first of his many books: Revelation: The Birth of a New Age was published in 1976.

Spangler differed from Alice Bailey in that he claimed that people must work to bring in the new age whereas Bailey had claimed it would come to humanity without human effort. The 1980s saw the emergence of Benjamin Creme and his claim that Maitreya would come in 1982. Maitreya didn’t appear that year or since. There was a widely promoted “harmonic convergence” of new age gatherings worldwide on August 16-17, 1987 seeking to bring in a new era of peace and an end to racism, hunger and war. It was a noble objective but with demonic power behind it.

Evangelical and Charismatic Christians were alarmed at these developments and many leaders spoke out against this rampant occultism that was deceiving millions. The new age claims of a coming messiah were regarded by many Christians as heralding the coming of the antichrist of Revelation thirteen. Constance Cumbey’s 1983 book The Hidden Dangers of the Rainbow was one of many books sounding the alarm.

A real watershed moment occurred in the early 1990s when David Spangler and some editors of new age publications rejected the claim of a coming new age. They instead advocated for transformation of people on the personal level only. I guess they were disillusioned by the fact that the claims of a coming new age messiah were unfulfilled. These leaders also lamented some of the hype and commercialization associated with the movement. (Wikipedia, Britannica.com)

The New Age Movement has been in decline ever since. Occultists of our own generation, at present, seem to have shifted focus to UFOs and extraterrestrials as the possible bringers of change to planet earth. So, instead of new age mediums “channeling” spirit beings, we now have many people claiming to have been abducted by aliens and receiving messages allegedly from extraterrestrials.

Let me say unequivocally that the remnants of the New Age Movement and the now popular UFO movement are focused on demonic experiences and anti-Christian doctrine. The Bible teaches that there will be an antichrist figure arriving to deceive mankind in the end-times just before the second coming of Jesus Christ. In the Bible we read: “Ye have heard that antichrist shall come” (I John 2:18). “And they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? and who can make war with him? . . . and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations” (Revelation 13:4 & 7).

Since the New Age Movement has been largely supplanted by UFO cults, let me briefly explain where UFOs come from. UFO researchers are divided into two different viewpoints in explaining UFOs. These viewpoints are the extraterrestrial hypothesis and the interdimensional hypothesis. The extraterrestrial hypothesis is the claim that UFOs are metal spaceships with astronauts from planets in star systems within our own physical universe. The interdimensional hypothesis is that UFOs are nonphysical entities or spirits that travel from different dimensions and enter our atmosphere from the unseen spiritual realm.

The interdimensional hypothesis is more consistent with the Bible and the Christian worldview because it can be inferred that the other dimensions from which UFOs travel are the same as the realm of spirit. The Bible certainly teaches about the spirit world.

Christian researchers and even some secular researchers reject the extraterrestrial hypothesis and maintain the interdimensional view. Famous secular UFO researcher, Jacques Vallee, holds the interdimensional view. In studying UFOs, I’ve come to believe that we’re dealing with intelligent life not from another planet but from another dimension. It’s not astronauts from outer space but spirit beings from the realm of spirit. Malevolent UFO aliens are demons and they can disguise themselves as humanoid beings or astronauts.

I’m open to the idea that good angels can also appear as lights in the sky or as lights on earth. The Bible, in Acts 12:7, tells of an angel appearing to the apostle Peter in light. Also remember that the prophet Ezekiel saw some bizarre but holy phenomena recorded in the book of Ezekiel in the Old Testament (Ezekiel 1:4-28). Angels are good spirits that inhabit other dimensions. The dimensions they inhabit are the dimensions of the spirit world. I hold to the interdimensional viewpoint.

I regard demonic UFO aliens who travel from the spirit dimensions as generally of the same category as poltergeists, hauntings, occultism, shamanism and other manifestations of evil spirits. I hold this view because the teachings that are transmitted from aliens to leaders of UFO cults are antibiblical and often lead to bizarre behavior such as the Heaven’s Gate mass suicide. Also, the horrific animal mutilations attributed to UFOs in which animals have their blood drained and have organs removed with surgical precision is further evidence of the demonic origin of UFO aliens.

Have no fear of demons appearing as flying saucers or disguised as extraterrestrial humanoid beings. Don’t be deceived by cult groups claiming extraterrestrial connections and phenomena. The Bible teaches that Christ is above all and every knee must bow before Christ who conquered sin through His death and resurrection. People have thwarted UFO abductions by commanding the aliens to stop in the name of Jesus Christ.

UFO aliens tempt young people with drama and adventure in our present age of rocketry and space exploration. UFO cults lead people to spiritual ruin. UFO abduction theory is just one more thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God. It must be exposed and vigorously refuted.

We must point people to Jesus Christ who came in fulfillment of over 300 Old Testament Bible prophecies written hundreds of years before His birth. No other person in all of history can match this claim! Jesus worked miracles in front of eyewitnesses and this proved that He is the Messiah and the Son of God. Miracles continue to be worked today by Christians who rely on the power of Christ.

Jesus suffered and died to take upon Himself the penalty of our sins, thus making atonement. He rose from the dead in victory to offer forgiveness of sins to all who turn to Him in repentance. I invite you to call upon Jesus Christ today to receive forgiveness of sins!

Steps to salvation:
Jesus said “Ye must be born again” (John 3:7).

1) Believe that God created you and loves you and sent the Messiah (Messiah is Hebrew for Christ) to redeem you.
2) Believe that Jesus Christ came to die for you, to take upon Himself the penalty of your sins (Isaiah 53:5-6, John 6:29, Romans 4:5, First Peter 3:18).
3) Repent of your sins and call on the name of Jesus to receive forgiveness of sins (Romans 10:13).
4) Receive Jesus as Savior and experience the new birth (John 1:12, Acts 2:38).
5) Follow Jesus Christ as Lord (John 14:15).

Prayer to receive salvation:

To receive the salvation which Jesus purchased for us at the terrible cost of His suffering and death on our behalf I invite you to pray this simple prayer:
“Dear heavenly Father, I thank you for sending Jesus, the promised Messiah, to die for my sins. I admit that I am a sinner. I repent of my sins and I ask you to forgive me on the basis of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. I ask you to fill me with your Holy Spirit to empower me to serve you under the Lordship of Jesus Christ, Amen.”

If you prayed this prayer in the humble sincerity of your heart, then you have received everlasting life, which includes power to live right in this life and entrance into heaven in the afterlife!

America in 2068: A Look at Our Turbulent Future

In the summer of 2068, a gray haired, athletically built man led two of his grandchildren up to the top of a wooded ridge overlooking a field. He pointed to the far side of the field and said “Do you see that old, wide concrete slab with rusty iron bolts sticking up from it? That’s the ruins of an old gasoline station and convenience store. People used to drive their cars onto the slab, which had fuel pumps, and they pumped gasoline into their cars.

“You could buy a brand new car for $30,000 back then, fifty years ago, in 2018. Of course, the cars were gasoline powered asphalt crawlers, not the anti-gravity, self-piloting vehicles we ride in today. Those were the days, back in ’18. Heck, nowadays, you can’t even buy a decent restaurant meal for $30,000.” The kids laughed.

Grandpa continued his history lesson to his grandchildren, Ian and Sara. “After they loaded up on gasoline, the people went into the nearby convenience store and bought junk food. They bought sugary cookies and pastries that were made with GMO flour and loaded with pesticide residues. It’s not even legal to sell that junk anymore. In fact, my mom, who was your great grandmother, worked as a clerk at a convenience store early in this century. She accepted payment in paper money and coins. They called it ‘cash.’

“Life fifty years ago was primitive and brutal, in more ways than one. Cancer was a dreadful killer. It was a slow, lingering death. Cancer was largely caused by de-natured, chemical laden junk food and tobacco. You know – ‘garbage in, garbage out.’ That wasn’t the worst of it. Junk food was bad enough. The real scandal was junk education. Kids were forced by truancy laws to attend schools, those slaughterhouses of the mind called ‘public schools.’

“They didn’t teach much reading, writing and arithmetic. They wasted a lot of time teaching philosophy of the postmodernist, atheistic kind.” At this point, Ian spoke up and asked “What’s postmodernist philosophy?” Grandpa hesitated and said “To explain that, I have to go back another fifty years before 2018. I have to go back to the 1960s, the time of your great-great grandparents. There was a major revolution in America in the 1960s. That’s when America went from a modern society to a postmodern society.”

“You see, in western civilization, there are really just three basic philosophical worldviews: the Judeo-Christian, the modern and the postmodern.

“The Judeo-Christian worldview maintains that there are moral absolutes and these absolute truths are given to us by God by revelation and are written in the Bible. Biblical morals include the Ten Commandments, the teachings of Jesus, the sacredness of human life and the dignity of man. God’s commandments apply to all people at all times in all cultures. Moral absolutes are universal, objective truths. America was founded in 1776 as a Christian country. The Judeo-Christian worldview was dominant.

“The modernist worldview claims that moral absolutes can be discovered by human reason alone without the aid of divine revelation. Modernism, since it arose in post-renaissance Europe, was nevertheless influenced by Christian concepts of justice and morality. Modernism is also dependent on Natural Law as a starting point for its reasoning. Modernists looked to nature rather than the Bible but they still believed in moral absolutes. The absolutes were manmade principles derived from rationalism, empiricism and pragmatism. America became predominantly modernist during the period roughly from 1870 to 1960. Famous modernist philosophers were Descartes, Hume, Locke, Voltaire, Rousseau, Hegel and the American pragmatist, William James.

“The postmodernist worldview claims that no moral absolutes exist. Morals are simply made up by the will of each person. This is radical existentialism and moral relativism. American culture and education, especially the universities, made the shift from modern to postmodern during the 1960s. “Do your own thing” became a definitive slogan of the 60s. “Perform random acts of kindness” was popular by the 1990s.

“Postmodernism is irrational, emotional, sophistic, barbaric, pessimistic, existentialistic and radically individualistic. Postmodernism is so scattered and atomized that most commentators define it only in terms of linguistic analysis and deconstructionism but those are only the putrid eruptions of the postmodern sore.

Once a person embraces moral relativism, there’s no real search for truth. Linguistic analysis and deconstructionism are merely ways of tinkering with language and literature which are just the tools of knowledge, not knowledge itself. Postmodernist philosophers include Nietzsche, Heidegger (Hitler’s favorite), Camus, De Man, Derrida and Sartre. The ancient Greek Sophist philosophers taught many things we would call postmodern. The Bible says ‘there is no new thing under the sun’ (Eccl. 1:9).

“By the 1980s and 90s the ideals of the 60s revolution became mainstream. The rejection of moral absolutes, the embrace of fornication, the acceptance of abortion and the promotion of the gay agenda radically transformed America. Fornication brought single motherhood and the severing of the bond between father and child. By 2018, the U.S. was a caricature of its former self and was postmodern in most of its education and culture.

“God’s standards do not change. God gave us moral absolutes by revelation. The mass murder of the unborn by abortion is serious sin. American postmodern culture accepts many practices that God abhors. All humankind is accountable to God and will be judged by God in the afterlife.

At this point Sara spoke up and said “That’s quite a history lesson, grandpa. Why do you think all those educated people went on to believe in postmodernism which sounds so silly and confusing?” Grandpa replied:”That’s actually an easy question to answer. They embraced postmodernism because they believed the Darwinian evolutionist claim that human beings are evolved from apes and have no souls and life ends with utter loss of consciousness. Darwinism is the origins myth of atheistic materialism. Public schools became temples of the church of Darwin.

“People saw no real purpose in life because they thought they had no future. They believed that when they die, the lights go out and all thoughts cease. They thought there was no God, no lawgiver, no law enforcer, no redemption of humankind, no life after death. They were really in despair, though they wouldn’t admit it. They embraced nihilism which is the philosophical zero point. Nihilism is the postmodernist concept of futility and nothingness.

“Things began to change when Darwinism crumbled. By the early 21st century, which is more than fifty years ago, the Intelligent Design Movement was in full swing. As science progressed, microbiology began to show the utter complexity of even the simplest living cell. A cell could never form by chance even in a trillion years. Secular scientists, to say nothing of the religious scientists, saw this clearly and it could not be denied. Other evidence against Darwin in genetics, the epigenome, comparative anatomy and the fossil record mounted against the secular origins myth called Darwinian evolution.

“It was enough to make the priests of the church of Darwin sweat bullets and rip out their hair remorselessly as their theory fell in a scientific tailspin. As they say ‘if dogs could whistle, the world would be a chorus.’ Darwinism fell and with it fell both modernism and postmodernism.

“People took a new look at Christianity, the faith that built America. The Christian faith is revealed in the Bible and proven by fulfilled prophecies and profound miracles. There is great revival of the Christian faith in America today and many millions of souls are being saved. “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved” (Rom. 10:13).

” Right now, in 2068, the world is in a desperate state of transformation and political upheaval. Millions are turning to Christ but millions more cling to the old ways of despair. The great dictator of the world government is seeking to crush Christianity. The Bible predicted this time of tribulation that occurs just before the second coming of Christ.”

Grandpa and the grandkids, Ian and Sara, walked down from that wooded ridge at the end of their afternoon hike, confident that God writes the end of that great story called human history. Over a billion people, all around the world, turned to Christ in the mid 21st century and were spared the despair and social chaos of the postmodern secular endgame. This happy multitude repented and received forgiveness of sins at the end of the age. They will gloriously welcome Christ at His second coming.

ANTONY FLEW: A Leading Atheist Who Came to Believe in God

Antony Flew (1923-2010) was an atheist of atheists. He was a British scholar and college professor who wrote dozens of books arguing for atheism or on other philosophical subjects, writing from a perspective of atheism. Some considered him to be the world’s leading atheist. He made headlines around the world in 2004 when he publicly declared that he changed his mind and believed that there is a God after all.

The atheist community was stunned into silence but quickly found its voice and questioned Flew’s conversion. Flew gave a number of interviews in 2004 in which he affirmed his new found belief in God but then backtracked a bit and made some ambivalent and even contradictory remarks. Over the next few years, however, he hardened his stance against atheism and went so far as to co-author a book declaring his belief in God.

His book is boldly titled: There is a God: How the World’s Most Notorious Atheist Changed His Mind (Harper Collins, New York, 2007). In it, Flew describes his journey from belief in atheism to belief in Deism or more precisely “Aristotelian Deism.” Flew denied having converted to Christianity or any other religion. Flew embraced Aristotle’s concept of “the unmoved mover” similar to the French Enlightenment’s god that doesn’t directly intervene in human history.

The atheist community was not bashful or tardy in attacking professor Flew’s new book. They claimed that Flew was demented or senile and that his co-author, Roy Varghese, did most of the actual writing and inserted his own opinions and claimed them to be Flew’s. Flew shot back with a penetrating public statement making it abundantly clear that the book “one hundred percent” represented his own opinions. Flew’s rejection of atheism and embrace of Deism was unequivocal. He repeatedly affirmed that there had to be an Intelligent Designer to bring life into being.

It’s interesting that for all the attacks on Flew’s book, I don’t recall one challenging a statement in the subtitle. The subtitle claimed Flew was “the world’s most notorious atheist.” That’s a bold claim among scholarly atheists. It shows the high status of Flew among intellectual atheists. His academic career at Oxford and other universities and his paper trail of writings gave Flew high standing in the church of Darwin. Flew was an elder statesman among atheists and his public defection must have been hideously embarrassing for the God deniers. Flew even did the audaciously bold act of joining with eleven other academics in requesting the British government to teach Intelligent Design in the state schools!

Flew wrote that what convinced him of God’s existence was the DNA evidence. DNA evidence has revolutionized biology, medicine and even law enforcement. DNA evidence solves crimes and provides irrefutable evidence that sends rapists and murderers behind bars. It’s also used to revisit cases and set innocent convicts free. As biology progresses it shows more of the mind boggling complexity of DNA. Biologists recently discovered yet another level of cellular complexity called the epigenome which surrounds and transmits messages to and from the DNA. Even the DNA of a “simple” life form such as an E. Coli bacteria is hundreds of thousands of nucleotide base pairs long. The base pairs in the DNA must be precisely sequenced for the bacteria to live.

Atheists believe DNA and all other biochemicals were formed by random collisions of atoms in the early earth. How could unguided processes in nature randomly solve a million Rubik’s Cubes? It takes great faith to believe that millions of extremely low probability chemical coincidences could have occurred and blindly formed every living thing. Atheism is a secular faith to which some adherents cling with religious zeal.

Antony Flew studied the myriad complexity of the DNA molecule and the utter lack of a reasonable naturalistic hypothesis for the formation of the first DNA or of the progression from the first DNA to a reproducing organism. Like so many scientists, philosophers and other academics, Flew came to believe in the necessity of an Intelligent Designer of life.

The DNA evidence alone should make every evolutionist simply capitulate and admit that evolution did not happen and could not happen even in a trillion years of random collisions of atoms. The Discovery Institute’s Center for Science and Culture is an Intelligent Design think tank based in Seattle, Washington. It’s members, which include scientists in all fields, openly dissent from evolution.

I’ve written about the “New Atheists” including Richard Dawkins, Daniel Dennett, Sam Harris and the late Christopher Hitchens. Many of their writings attack Christianity with boldness and fury. Flew was a generation older than the new atheists. The new atheists no doubt looked up to him. It’s sad that many atheists still cling to their unbelief and still hold on to the secular origins myth called neo-darwinian evolution. Darwinists are clever story tellers but they don’t get to write their own endings. The stiff winds of reality are blowing. I hope they will see and understand the scientific evidence that shouts for the necessity of the Creator. I hope that Flew himself came to a saving relationship with God through Christ at the end of his days.

God beckons the atheist to turn from unbelief. “I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways” (Ezekiel 33:11).

Many in the academic community are taking a fresh look at Christianity. Antony Flew wrote positive things about the Christian faith near the end of his life. The ancient Hebrew prophets wrote predictive prophecies of the coming Messiah. These prophecies were written in the pages of the Old Testament. A major prophecy in the book of Isaiah, the 53rd chapter, predicted that the coming Messiah would suffer and die, bearing the penalty of the sins of the people. Jesus of Nazareth fulfilled this and many other prophecies. Forgiveness of sins is obtained through faith in Christ because Christ died for our sins. Turn to Christ today to receive forgiveness of sins!

Steps to salvation:

Jesus said “Ye must be born again” (John 3:7).

1) Believe that God created you and loves you and sent the Messiah (Messiah is Hebrew for Christ) to redeem you.

4) Receive Jesus as Savior and experience the new birth (John 1:12, Acts 2:38).
5) Follow Jesus Christ as Lord (John 14:15).

Impossibility of Life Coming From Nonlife Frustrates Evolutionists

Let’s consider the following quote:
“Now Imagine 100,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 blind persons each with a scrambled Rubik cube, and try to conceive of the chance of them all simultaneously arriving at the solved form. You then have the chance at arriving by random shuffling of just one of the many biopolymers [proteins] on which life depends. The notion that not only the biopolymers but the operating programme of a living cell could be arrived at by chance in a primordial organic soup here on the Earth is evidently nonsense of a high order.”

The above quote passionately argues that the first living cell could not have happened by chance. Who do you suppose wrote those words? Could it have been Billy Graham or some other evangelist? Could it have been the Pope or other high Catholic cleric? Could it have been Israel’s chief rabbi or perhaps a leading Muslim imam? No, the man who wrote those words was the famous British astronomer and cosmologist, Sir Fred Hoyle FRS, a self proclaimed atheist. Hoyle, along with many other leading scientists, over the years, did the math on the complexity of the proteins (biopolymers) of the cell. They see that there is a vanishingly small possibility of even one protein forming by random collisions of atoms.

I have a book filled with hundreds of quotes by secular evolutionist scientists that refute evolution. It’s titled: “That Their Words May Be Used Against Them: Quotes from Evolutionists Useful for Creationists” by Henry Morris, Master Books, 1997. These quotes are from evolutionists, who frankly admit the dubiousness of the scientific underpinnings of the Darwinian theory they publicly claim to believe. These are believers in Darwinism who have, nevertheless, expressed serious doubts. Their quotes are devastating to Darwinism and abiogenesis.

Abiogenesis, also called chemical evolution or “life from nonlife” is the claim that the first living cell came into being through the churning of nonliving chemicals in the primordial soup. Abiogenesis is one of many Achilles’ heels of evolution. A study of the current state of abiogenesis reveals that there are many competing hypotheses of how the first living cell could have formed by unguided unintelligent processes in the early earth.

Theories of abiogenesis currently being studied, promoted and debated include: Deep Sea Vent Theory, Eigen’s hypothesis, Wachtershauser’s hypothesis, Radioactive beach hypothesis, “Genes first” models, “Metabolism first” models, Gold’s “Deep-hot biosphere” model and several others. Notice that several of them are called “hypothesis.” In fact, all of them can be called hypotheses. The term, “hypothesis” essentially means they are below the status of a theory. “Hypo” means “below,” hence “below theory.”

A hypothesis is below a theory because a hypothesis is merely a suggested explanation of phenomena without much evidence. A real theory, such as Einstein’s theory of relativity, is based on much evidence. Relativity has been repeatedly tested and proven by experimental science. The hypotheses of abiogenesis make claims about events that allegedly occurred in the distant past. The life from nonlife hypotheses are essentially stories about what may have happened in the early earth. It is art, not science. It is the art of the storyteller. It is educated men making educated guesses.

In fact, Darwinism itself, though often called “the theory of evolution,” is also really just a hypothesis because it has to do with claims of nonrepeatable events alleged to have occurred in the distant past. Micro-evolution is minor changes in the gene pool of livestock caused by cross breeding which ranchers do every day. Macro-evolution is the radical change of one life form into another such as fish to amphibian. Macro-evolution has never been observed in real time.

The very fact that there are many abiogenesis hypotheses is evidence that scientists are divided and confused. Scientists are befuddled by the mind-bogglingly small probability of random collisions of atoms forming a living cell. Also, origin-of-life scientists have not been able to manufacture a living cell in the laboratory. If random formation of life from nonlife were possible by accident in nature, one would certainly expect scientists would be able to build a simple life form in the lab on purpose. They cannot.

The definition of a living organism is that it must be able to eat, excrete and reproduce. A virus is not a living thing because viruses don’t eat or excrete and they depend on a host cell’s DNA to reproduce. The smallest living things are mycoplasmas which are bacteria that don’t have cell walls. Mycoplasmas have cell membranes but no cell walls. This makes many of them immune to antibiotics. Scientists have not been able to build a mycoplasma or any other “simple” bacteria in the lab. The J. Craig Venter Institute recently synthesized DNA and inserted it into a mycoplasma. They did not build artificial life. They did not build a complete mycoplasma nor did they claim to do so.

The DNA of a mycoplasma can contain over three quarters of a million nucleotide base pairs, all precisely sequenced. Microbiologists now know that the simplest cells are constructed using more than 200 distinct proteins. Even an ordinary protein is immensely complex. An average protein is composed of over 400 amino acids arranged in precise sequence. These 200 plus proteins (along with DNA and RNA) then have to be assembled into a living cell.

Such a “simple” cell, with all of its cellular machinery to build proteins, and its ability to reproduce by cell division is more complex than the computer you’re using to read this. To say it could form by chance is a secular leap of faith. Darwinism is a strained hypothesis. Darwinism is faith, not science. The scientific confusion and frustration over abiogenesis is one more reason for the collapse of evolution. Secular evolutionists want us to bet our souls that there is no God. They do it on the basis of weak hypotheses and wishful thinking. I bet my soul that there is a God! “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth” (Gen. 1:1).

Darwinism is the taproot of secularism. When Darwinism goes down, the whole secular edifice falls with it. The wreckage of humanistic denial of God’s law is evident. The rejection of Christian traditional marriage has resulted in broken families, neglected and abandoned children and the mass murder of the preborn. Millions of women are raising their children alone and in poverty.

God created human beings with a purpose and that purpose is to know God and to enjoy Him forever (Westminster Catechism). God has provided for forgiveness of sins by sending Jesus of Nazareth, the promised Messiah of Israel. Jesus came in fulfillment of over 300 prophecies which were written in the Old Testament hundreds of years before His birth. The prophets foretold that He would suffer and die and take the penalty of our sins upon Himself. They foretold that Christ would rise from the dead to offer forgiveness of sins to all who repent and call upon Him. Turn to Christ today to receive forgiveness of sins!

Steps to salvation:
Jesus said “Ye must be born again” (John 3:7).

1) Believe that God created you and loves you and sent the Messiah (Messiah is Hebrew for Christ) to redeem you.
2) Believe that Jesus Christ came in fulfillment of over 300 Bible prophecies to die for you, to take upon Himself the penalty of your sins (Isaiah 53:5-6, John 6:29, Romans 4:5, First Peter 3:18).
3) Turn from sin and call on the name of Jesus to receive forgiveness of sins (Romans 10:13).
4) Receive Jesus as Savior and experience the new birth (John 1:12, Acts 2:38).
5) Follow Jesus Christ as Lord (John 14:15).

Prayer to receive salvation:

“Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved” (Romans 10:13).
To receive the salvation that Jesus purchased for us at the terrible cost of His suffering and death on our behalf I invite you to pray this simple prayer:

“Dear heavenly Father, I thank you for sending Jesus, the promised Messiah, to die for my sins. I admit that I am a sinner. I repent of my sins and I ask you to forgive me on the basis of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. I ask you to fill me with your Holy Spirit to empower me to serve you under the Lordship of Jesus Christ, Amen.”

If you prayed this prayer in the humble sincerity of your heart then you have received everlasting life, which includes power to live right in this life and entrance into heaven in the afterlife!

Recent Developments in UFO “Abductions”

Things are getting very bizarre in alien abduction claims these days. People are getting hurt in more ways than one. People are deceived, stressed, fearful and mentally depressed because of alleged UFO “abduction” experiences. We must be prepared to help people get free from this demonic deception.

A recent episode of a TV show titled “Aliens in America” on the Destination America channel featured an interview with alien abduction claimant, Richard Rogers. Rogers claimed that he’s been abducted by aliens several times for what he calls “matrix military scenarios training.”

In a dramatic re-enactment on the TV show, Rogers is depicted as having been abducted into a room filled with people and there was a monster in the form of a giant, fierce looking man who was attacking people in the room and trying to eat the people. Suddenly a sword appeared in Rogers’s hand and he used it to attack the monster who was extremely strong but very slow moving. He slashed the monster to no avail until he moved around behind the monster and slashed his legs. There was another alleged “military training” abduction incident, involving Rogers, that was also dramatized on the show which I will not describe here.

Rogers said that he suddenly feels very sleepy in the afternoon and then lies down and sleeps and then finds himself in this virtual reality type of place where he is confronting some sort of monster. After the experience he wakes in a sweat, often weeping. Rogers, who was plainly confused about the whole thing, thought he was being abducted by aliens and trained to defend the earth.

Rogers seemed melancholy and deeply concerned. The TV show also interviewed his wife who was also troubled by the bizarre abduction experiences of her husband. I felt sorry for them.

Let me put these alleged abduction experiences in the larger context of the satanic deceptions in the age in which we live. Researchers say that there are over one million people who claim to have been abducted. Some claim to have been abducted many times and experience strange things and hear messages. Some claim to have been abducted by “reptilians” and others by “greys.” Alien abduction claims are actually a very recent phenomenon. Before the Barney and Betty Hill alleged abduction incident in 1961, virtually no one had claimed to have been abducted. Now there are over 1,000,000 claimants. You can see how UFO alien deceptions have ramped up in the last few decades. We are truly living in the end-times just before the second coming of Christ.

UFO “abductions” and UFO cults are a major avenue of deception that must be addressed. I don’t believe that Richard Rogers or any others who claim to have been abducted were actually taken aboard a spacecraft. I believe these abductions are nothing more than demonic dreams or visions implanted in unsuspecting people. Demons can put thoughts in human minds.

The Bible describes an instance of the devil giving a vision to a person. When Christ was in the wilderness being tempted by the devil, it is written that the devil “showed Him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time” (Luke 4:5 NASB). Christ, in His temptation experience, was given a vision of all the world’s kingdoms in a moment of time. The devil or Satan gave Christ that vision and tempted Him with it. Of course, Christ rejected the satanic temptation and He continued to live a life without sin.

I have great concern for Richard Rogers and the many other people who are given visions or dreams of being abducted. Many are so deceived that they become obsessed with their experiences and are tormented and led into false belief systems.

There are many instances of people resisting and ending abduction attempts by calling on Jesus for help. The April 2001 issue of Charisma magazine, on page 46 gives details of one such instance. Joe Jordan and Guy Malone, founders of the Christian UFO research ministry, Alien Resistance, have documented hundreds of cases of people stopping alien abduction attempts by calling on Jesus Christ. If you are confronted by demons appearing as UFOs or aliens, tell them to go away in the name of Jesus Christ. Always speak the name of Jesus Christ aloud during the confrontation. The Bible says: “Resist the devil, and he will flee from you” (James 4:7).

UFOs and aliens, whether they appear as reptilians or greys, are actually spirits. They are not flesh and blood astronauts in metal spacecraft. Many UFO researchers, even secular ones, are coming around to see that UFOs and aliens are spirits from the spiritual dimensions of reality.

The claim that UFOs are metal spaceships from Mars or other planets within our solar system was refuted when Mariner 4 took close pictures of Mars in July of 1965. Many scientists expected to see forests, grassy fields, animals and even intelligent beings on Mars. However, Mars was proven to be a cratered wasteland. All the planets beside earth in our solar system are barren. Some UFO researchers continue to claim that UFOs are metal spaceships but from planets in distant star systems.

Let me briefly explain where UFOs come from. The interdimensional view is that UFOs are nonphysical entities or spirits that travel from different dimensions and enter our universe from the unseen spiritual realm.

The interdimensional hypothesis is more consistent with the Bible and the Christian worldview because it can be inferred that the other dimensions from which UFOs travel are the same as the realm of spirit. The Bible certainly teaches about the spirit world.

Christian researchers and some secular researchers reject the extraterrestrial hypothesis and maintain the interdimensional view.

In the Bible, in Acts 12:7, we read of an angel appearing to the apostle Peter in light. Also remember that Ezekiel, the prophet, saw some bizarre but holy phenomena recorded in the book of Ezekiel in the Old Testament (Ezekiel 1:4-28).

Don’t be deceived by cult groups claiming New Age, extraterrestrial connections and phenomena. The Bible teaches that Christ is above all and every knee must bow before Christ who conquered sin through His death and resurrection. People have thwarted UFO abductions by calling on Jesus Christ for help.

Jesus worked miracles in front of eyewitnesses and this is recorded in the Gospels of the New Testament. Miracles continue to be worked today by Christians who rely on the power of Christ.

Jesus suffered and died to take upon Himself the penalty of our sins, thus making atonement. He rose from the dead in victory to offer forgiveness of sins to all who turn to Him in repentance. Call upon Jesus Christ today to receive forgiveness of sins!

Steps to salvation:

Jesus said “Ye must be born again” (John 3:7).

4) Receive Jesus as Savior and experience the new birth (John 1:12, Acts 2:38).

Prayer to receive salvation:

Biochemistry Professor Refutes Evolution With Irreducible Complexity

by Bill Nugent

Michael Behe, Ph. D., professor of biochemistry at Lehigh University and author of Darwin’s Black Box has lectured on the fact that single celled organisms such as bacteria are not only complex but their complexity is irreducible. Irreducible complexity means that if just one component of a complex system is missing then that system is nonfunctional.

Dr. Behe claims that the first living cell had to form all at once or not at all. He maintains that it is impossible for a cell to form piece by piece because none of the cell’s parts can function without the others. If a cell bio-chemical, such as DNA, somehow formed by random collisions of atoms it would not last long. The DNA would immediately dissolve because it had no other cell structures to protect it. The fruit of all the amazing (and statistically impossible) chemical coincidences that randomly formed a long chain DNA molecule would be instantly lost.

Dr. Behe used the illustration of a mousetrap. A mousetrap consists of a small board, a spring, a bar, a lever, a bait holder and bait. If any part is missing, it won’t function. It won’t perform the simple function of catching a mouse. Now try to imagine a mousetrap forming randomly in nature. By a bizarre coincidence erosion from an iron deposit yields a steel spring attached to a curved steel bar. this naturally formed mechanism somehow, by blind chance becomes attached to a piece of wood. Another piece of metal washes up and gets attached to it and acts like a lever to hold the spring open but since there’s no bait holder or bait the system cannot catch any mice and the whole thing simply rusts away into oblivion.

A cell nucleus, mitochondria, protoplasm and other organelles are far more complex than any mousetrap. Each of these cellular organelles, along with their unfathomable complexity of proteins, RNA, DNA and other biochemicals must form simultaneously and then be assembled immediately. For any person to teach that this happened by random, unguided processes enters into the realm of unscientific speculation and storytelling.

The concept of irreducible complexity is not limited to the analysis of single celled organisms. Every organ system in every living thing is seen to be irreducibly complex. For instance, the wings of an insect, so exquisitely formed as a miniature flying machine with perfect size, surface area and musculature are useless unless all parts are present and fully formed.

The principle of irreducible complexity applies to the retractable fangs, venom bladder, venom ducts and mouth musculature of a rattlesnake.  Partial formation of the fang and poison system of the snake would be disadvantageous and such a freakish, partially formed poisonous snake would be eliminated by natural selection. Therefore a very large number of favorable genetic mutations must occur simultaneously to form a complete fang and bladder system. This is a statistical impossibility.

Early in the 20th century researchers irradiated fruit flies in order to cause genetic mutations and bring evolutionary change. Fruit flies have short life spans and many generations can be observed in a short period. The radiation only produced deformed fruit flies and the experiment was abandoned. Famous evolutionist, Richard Goldschmidt, irradiated generations of Gypsy moths and only got dead or deformed moths.

I chuckle when I read of the excitement at NASA over the recent discovery of the evidence that water once existed on Mars. Some secularists even express faith that life could have formed on Mars because water was there. Knowing what scientists have discovered about the complexity of “simple” microorganisms, any speculation that life could have formed randomly in water on Mars is just wishful thinking on the part of those who reject God as creator.

Dr. Behe has shown through his elucidation of irreducible complexity that life could not have formed randomly. The foundation of Darwinian evolution is therefore totally destroyed. This is just one more proof that there is an intelligent designer of life. The intelligent designer is God.

God has spoken to humanity. His revelatory words are recorded in the Bible. The Bible has the ring of truth because it is confirmed by archeology, history, science and manuscript evidence. It is also confirmed by the many predictive prophecies contained in its pages that are authentically and verifiably fulfilled. The natural and supernatural backing of the Bible’s claim to be inspired by God is convincing. The Bible is in a class by itself and no other alleged holy book has anything like the mountain of evidence that confirms that the Bible is inspired by God.

People Who Flee From Evolution but go on to Promote UFOs

by Bill Nugent

In postmodern civilization there are two major pillars of secularism. On the one hand is Darwinian evolution and on the other are UFOs. Darwinism appeals to the analytic scientific minded person. UFOs and UFO cults appeal to people who are more intuitive and abstract in their thinking. Darwinism is crumbling as the facts of microbiology and genetics prove that life did not form by random collisions of atoms. Some evolutionists flee from Darwinism and embrace UFOs to explain life origins and destiny.

I personally embraced evolution at a very young age. I went from devout Catholic to atheist when I was in the fifth grade because I was taught evolution when I transferred from a parochial school to a public school. I gradually began to doubt atheistic evolution over the next few years. Then, in the eleventh grade, I got ensnared in UFO-ology and its rejection of God. I made the journey from Catholic to evolutionist to follower of UFO literature. Thankfully, I returned to God when the message of salvation through Christ was explained to me very clearly when I was in college.

Evolution is taught in government run schools from K through twelve. Children are indoctrinated in evolution at an early age. Evolution is also taught in natural history museums all around the country and through nature magazines and nature TV shows. UFO-ology is not taught in schools but older children are exposed to it through UFO themed TV shows, motion pictures, sci-fi books and most deceptively through UFO cults.

First, let’s take a brief look at why Darwinism is failing as a life origins hypothesis. As the science of microbiology progresses it reveals more and more of the complexity of the simplest of living cells. All scientists know that DNA is an immensely complex molecule containing the design of life. More recently the epigenome which surrounds DNA has been discovered and studied by microbiologists. The epigenome is a myriadly complex microscopic structure that surrounds DNA and transfers information to and from DNA.

The job of the secular origin of life biologist just got a lot harder. Up until now he couldn’t explain the origin of the first DNA by random collisions of atoms. Now he has a whole new level of complexity in the epigenome that he can’t possibly explain. Darwinism is crashing on the hard rocks of reality.

One would hope that secular people would abandon the Darwinian origins myth and join us at church every Sunday. Unfortunately, the grim reality is that many secularists have held onto their atheistic materialist view of life origins and appealed to guided panspermia allegedly conducted by UFOs as a refuge. Guided panspermia is the claim that ancient astronauts in interstellar spacecraft brought living organisms to earth and supposedly gave evolution a jump start. The eminent microbiologist, Francis Crick, (1916 – 2004), who was co-discoverer of the structure of DNA, took an interest in the origin of life. For several years, Crick promoted the idea of guided panspermia to explain life origins.

The promotion of guided panspermia by men of science is a not-so-subtle indication of their frustration at trying to explain the origin of life by evolution. They see the failures of Darwinism! The secular biologists have tipped their hand. They are humiliated as Darwinism unravels. Their skepticism of evolution leaves them unmoored. Some embrace UFOs as a last refuge of the damned. What a tragedy.

Some of us may be tempted to laugh at the notion of spaceships carrying life to earth but many people are ensnared by this claim and have rejected God as a result. This is no laughing matter.

For an evolutionist to appeal to extraterrestrial spacecraft to explain life origins is something that a debater would call a “regress argument” for the evolutionist position. The evolutionist admits that life could never have arisen by random collisions of atoms on earth so he claims it happened elsewhere, on a distant planet, in a distant star system beyond the observation of us earthlings! I contend that since microbiology and genetics prove Darwinian evolution couldn’t happen on earth, we can be certain it couldn’t happen anywhere else in the universe.

In guided panspermia we have the joining of two schools of unbelief: Darwinian evolution and extraterrestrials. These are the twin giants of unbelief. Both of these giants crumble and fall under scrutiny. Darwinism falls under the onslaught of advances in the fields of microbiology, genetics and paleontology. UFOs fail as a life origins hypothesis when we consider the evidence that shows that UFOs are not metal spaceships.

The claim of extraterrestrial metal spaceships arriving on earth bringing living organisms falls apart when we examine how the laws of physics prevent interstellar space travel across light years of space. If a spacecraft traveling at near the speed of light were to hit a speck of dust it would cause a blast as large as that of an atomic bomb. There are other physical reasons why we should not expect metal spacecraft from deep space to arrive on earth. I agree that many UFOs are real. However, they are not metal spacecraft. They are spirit beings from the realm of spirit.

The reason alleged spacecraft from outer space don’t land on the White House lawn or in front of Buckingham Palace or by the Brandenburg Gate is because UFOs are spirits of another dimension who appear as apparitions. The very secretiveness of the UFOs is evidence that they are from the dimensions of the spirit world. They are from the realm of the paranormal.

Also, I’ll mention that the SETI institute hasn’t been able to find any radio or other EMF signals from deep space that would have been sent by intelligent life. SETI spent millions of dollars over decades searching for intelligent life but has come up empty.

Let me briefly explain where UFOs come from. The interdimensional hypothesis is that UFOs are nonphysical entities or spirits that travel from different dimensions and enter our universe from the unseen spiritual realm.

Famous secular UFO researcher, Jacques Vallee, holds the interdimensional view.
